Hepatitis is a general term for inflammation of the liver. Hepatitis B is a serious liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus. The virus is usually spread from person to person through contact with blood or body fluids of someone who has the infection. People experience this illness have symptoms like:

  • Yellow skin or eyes (or jaundice)
  • Not feeling hungry
  • Feeling tired
  • muscle, joint or stomach pain
  • stomach upset
  • diarrhea or vomiting
There are two types of hepatitis B.

  • Acute hepatitis B which means no need treatment because body may be able to fight the infection on its own.
  • Chronic hepatitis B need to see family doctor because family doctor will refer the patients to a gastroenterologist or other sub specialist that treats patients who have chronic liver problems.
The number of medical treatment available can be often successful as well as treatment with antiviral medicines. Treatment may take a year or more depend on the severity of the infection and the response to treatment.
